 Each month, Rabbi Brown leads a Torah Study group in a lively, participative discussion.  This is open to anyone who wants to drop in — women and men.  We do not read the "current" portion but are working our way through the Torah. There is no preparation.  Brotherhood provides bagels, cream cheese, and freshly brewed coffee for each session. We will explore both sides of that dichotomy, and seek to gain some understanding into how we can reap the benefits while avoiding the pitfalls. With an emphasis on fun, this talk will explore the latest in gadgetry, new media, and the social implications of the technology revolution.  This year we will see the dawn of the long-promised “personal digital assistant”....

 We will explore through a careful study of Leviticus 23-25 the meaning of the Jubilee year and how it connects and is the fulfillment of the Torah calendar. Sacred time is one of the great creations of our Torah and one of the extraordinary uniting forces of our people throughout our history. What is sacred time? What is the Jubilee and how does it connect and complete the whole?

Rabbi Jonah Pesner, founding Director of Just Congregations of the Union for Reform Judaism, which works with synagogues to pursue social justice, will speak on “Moving from Activism to Organizing: Seeking the Transformation of People, Synagogues, and Communities, Starting with Temple Isaiah.” As a leader of the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization (GBIO), Rabbi Pesner helped to secure health care for more than half a million uninsured residents of Massachusetts.
