Welcome!
If you are considering joining a synagogue, we hope that this web site will give you a feel for our congregation. We encourage you to contact the co-chairs of the Membership Committee to learn more about us and to meet some of the people who make Temple Isaiah what it is.
If you are a new member, the Membership Committee is a resource for your first few years of affiliation, as described below. Please let us know what we can do to help you feel at home!
Membership Committee
Our Membership Committee works to help new members feel welcome and comfortable in our congregation during their first years of affiliation. Programs vary, and have included a Shabbat service honoring new members, delivery of Purim baskets, and a brunch to meet other new members.
The Membership Committee also promotes the integration of all members into the religious, social, educational, and social-action activities at Temple Isaiah. We provide programs and support for our diverse community, including Jews-by-choice, those considering conversion, interfaith families, and parents whose children are involved in interfaith relationships. We provide information, classes, a network of friends, and help to sensitize the congregation and the community to the needs of these members. One goal of the committee is to provide an atmosphere of support in which all of us can make Jewish choices in our lives.
Finally, the Membership Committee encourages membership affiliation in Temple Isaiah. In the fall and spring the committee sponsors open houses for prospective members.
Committee members make themselves available to provide all new and recent members with someone they can call if and when they need advice. If you have been made to feel welcomed at Isaiah or feel there’s more to do, please join us in welcoming others. If you are a new (or newer) member and would like our help, please let us know.
Membership in Temple Isaiah
Membership includes the individual (and spouse, if married), children and dependent adults residing with a member family. Annual dues for membership include all religious activities of the synagogue, except school fees and building fund.
We are strongly committed to our long-standing policy that no one is refused membership because of inability to pay. Requests for special arrangements are treated confidentially.
Temple Isaiah offers special reduced dues for members under the age of thirty five, under 30, and over the age of seventy.
For information on becoming a member, contact the co-chairs of the Membership Committee.
